@juicyfruitzy well no question the man had a great swing. but so do a lot of guys. what i was saying is it’s hard to compare today’s players and the guys in the 50′s and 60′s. plus the swing isn’t what wins you tournaments and majors. it’s who controls his distances and putting. hogan would’ve probably been great in any era but you can’t say if he would’ve won 9 majors against today’s players.
@stackleft In the end, I just don’t think it’s possible to compare players’ skills from other eras to today’s players. But everyone can agree that there was something special about Mr. Hogan that you don’t see in most golfers today.
@AMMrawCR keep your head up. I was struggling sooo much recently. If you are struggling, and haven’t done this yet, and have already gotten lessons, try video taping yourself. I thought I was doing the right things, but WOW, was I not!!! It is amazing how you can think you are doing things in a golf swing, but reality is so much different.
@Rick102667 I agree, new equipment would have helped them, it’s just really you could probably give like tiger woods or phil mickelson a tree branch and a couple stones and they’d still probably shoot godly scores. not saying that I disagree with you
@Rick102667 yup and to think that hogan and snead and nelson didn’t play with yardage books. they played it with feel. and hogan said that if he had a camera he would have figured out the swing in half the time. so imagine if they had precise yardages and modern equipment and technology. I still will argue that Hogan was and is the greatest of all time. he just doesn’t have as many wins because of the car accident.

That’s all fine and good. But Tiger is finished if he doesn’t get more upright and go with more lateral shift like Byron Nelson.
for more tips checkc out the link on my profile!! great informationn!
I believe Hogan would have set all the records had he not been hit by a bus.

Jones and Hogan’s swing are the root of classical golf swing. Many key points from contemporary players are stealing from them though.
